Born: January 29, 1954 (age 59), Kosciusko, MS

Going by the topic though this is a bit an old story but we are sure you will get lively as you go through it and it goes thus;

Oprah Winfrey is breaking her silence after having a run-in with an employee at a retail shop in Zurich.

“Turns out the store clerk did me a favor. Just found out that bag was #38K!!! She was right I was NOT going to buy it,” she said in a tweet.

But the OWN network creator didn’t stop there: She still had nothing but nice things to say about her time in the Switzerland capital.

“Other than the handbag diss. I had a GREAT time in Zurich. Best spa ever @doldergran. Would love to experience again.”

The media mogul gave an interview to Entertainment Tonight earlier where she revealed that she encountered racism while shopping in Zurich when a store clerk refused to show her a handbag, claiming it was “too expensive” for her.

Since letting the cat out of the bag (pun fully intended), Swiss tourism officials have officially apologized to Oprah.

“Switzerland Tourism is deeply sorry to learn about the experience Ms. Winfrey recently had in Switzerland, and we apologize that her feelings were hurt. We would like to assure Ms. Winfrey—like any visitor to Switzerland—that she is welcome with open arms.”

Winfrey, who was in Zurich last month to attend Tina Turner‘s wedding and decided to go shopping by herself, told ET that instead of raising a ruckus about how she was treated, she left the shop without buying the bag because she didn’t want to give the employee a commission.

“There’s two different ways to handle it,” Oprah said. “I could’ve had the whole blow-up thing…but [racism] still exists, of course it does.”

The shop later addressed the controversy and called the whole thing “a “200 percent misunderstanding.”
